Bisco Smith

Bisco Smith is an international contemporary artist whose multidisciplinary practice spans painting, music, lyricism, and graffiti. Emerging from street culture, he has developed a distinctive visual language grounded in presence and spontaneity, where rhythm and language are translated into dynamic visual form through an ongoing dialogue between personal perception and contemporary experience.

Music is fundamental to Smith's practice, shaping the rhythm and structure of his painting as sound informs gesture in real time. His works unfold with the cadence of visual scores, where attention, movement, and energy become intrinsic to the act of making.

Working across canvas, wall works, and installation, Smith employs materials including household paint, spray paint, rollers, and wheat paste to build layered surfaces that retain the physicality of their making. Fragmented text, gestural abstraction, and rhythmic mark-making converge to create compositions that blur the boundaries between language, image, and movement.

Smith has exhibited internationally across cultural centres including New York, Los Angeles, Miami, Tokyo, Seoul, Hong Kong, Berlin, London, Amsterdam, Johannesburg, and Lagos, and has collaborated with global brands including Nike, The North Face, Spotify, Adidas, SLS Hotels, and Coach New York.
